The Joint Center hosted its second National Economic Roundtable convening, bringing together leaders across research, policy, and practice to engage in meaningful discussion about the significance of the federal workforce, economic policy, the broader economy, and their impact on Black communities.
The conversation focused on emerging policy discussions around the current and future economic conditions of African Americans, with a focus on federal employment and wages.
During the convening, Joint Center President Dedrick Asante-Muhammad provided opening remarks, and Dr. Valerie Wilson, director of the Program on Race, Ethnicity, and the Economy, Economic Policy Institute, presented on the history of the significance of federal employment for Black workers and a look into the reversion of federal employment policies today.
